Growers offering - Buyers searching
More and more growers are taking control of their selling price and offering their grain at the price they are willing to sell for. There are currently more than 26,000 offers on Clear Grain Exchange (CGX). That is 26,000 combinations of tonnage and price by commodity, grade and location around Australia - and it's yielding results. Prices trading on CGX are regularly better than the best published bids and cash bids provided on the day. The value is being created by growers (and their agents) taking control of their grain prices and offering grain at the price they want on an independent and secure exchange so all buyers can see it and try to buy it. By being proactive and offering grain at their sale price, rather than waiting for buyers to advertise their bids and reacting to them, growers are making it easier for buyers to find their grain, crunch their numbers and try to buy it. It often means grain of a more suitable grade, or in a more suitable location, is being discovered by buyers so they are able to pass on the value. If you have grain in warehouse, don't hide it - offer it for sale on CGX at the price you want! You're completely anonymous at all times, you retain title of your grain until you're paid, it costs nothing to have your grain on offer, CGX charges are only incurred if it sells, and we always say to factor those costs into your sale price. If you are a bit unsure of your selling price, start higher! If you use the exchange correctly it can only add value to your business.
