Wheat prices improve
Wheat prices improved at the end of last week with buyers pushing bids higher to match prices growers were targeting to make some sales.
24 different buyer businesses bought 16 grades of wheat across NSW, VIC, SA and WA last week with more searching for wheat offered for sale.
Most of the wheat that traded was APW1 and below grades including off-spec, feed and even seconds, and prices were very similar across the grades. Some higher protein milling grades such as H1 and H2 were trading in SA and noodle in the west.
The tight price spreads between wheat grades implies the feed market continues to drive values with buyers that require milling grades having to keep up.
Feed barley prices continued to trade at strong values relative to wheat, underpinned by stronger offshore Chinese demand. Similarly to wheat, malt barley buyers are having to compete to secure tonnage.
GM canola was trading across VIC, SA and WA at $712/t VIC port track, $700/t SA and $745/t FIS WA plus oil bonification payments achieved.
SA and VIC growers where production has been lower than normal should be checking prices trading in other states. A drought premium in prices over the other states could be asked for.
Demand for Sorghum in the north eastern states continues to be high which has timed nicely with the harvest. The opportunity for growers is to offer their sorghum at prices they want when demand is high!
Lupins and faba beans were also trading across WA and SA. Remember almost all grains and grades are able to be offered for sale through Clear Grain Exchange and igrainX.
37 buyers purchased grain through CGX and igrainX, a total of 109 buyers made 6,437 searches for grain listed for sale on the exchange.
There are plenty of buyers searching for Australian grain offered for sale.

Let all buyers see your grain at the price you are a genuine seller as it helps attract more buyers to buy your grain and is the only way to determine it's true value.
Buyers are actively looking for Australian grain and ready to buy it at prices they can make work. Demand for grain is not an issue. It's the price point that grain will trade which the market is trying to work out, and growers can influence that by offering grain for sale at the price they're sellers.
The amount of grain to be exported from Australia this year and consumed domestically has not yet been bought by buyers from growers.
This means demand for Australian grains remains and growers have a say in the price they sell it for.

Growers are impacting the price of Australian grain by offering grain for sale and leading bids higher.
igrainX enables growers to offer grain for sale that's stored on-farm to all buyers from within their CGX online account.
Grain listed for sale that's stored on-farm is protected by counterparty insurance, a diligent buyer registration process, and CGX managing invoices and collecting funds from the buyer on the growers behalf.
