  • 22 buyers purchased grain on CGX - more searching

  • 109 sellers sold grain on CGX with more offering grain for sale

  • 16 agent and/or advisory businesses sold grain on behalf of growers

  • 18 different grades traded

  • 4 commodities traded - wheat, barley, lupins, oats

  • 9 port zones traded across NSW, VIC and WA

Buyers searching grain they can work

Prices slightly higher through last week as buyers searched for grain offered for sale and more growers were engaging the market with their price targets.


22 buyers purchased 18 different grades of wheat, barley, lupins and oats through CGX last week with more searching for grain on offer.


Wheat grades made up the majority of grades that sold at 90% reflecting volume of grain offered and buyers able lift prices to grower targets prices.


AGP1 traded $415, AH9 $417 and SFW1 $414 Port Kembla, APW1 traded $490 FIS Kwinana and $480 Melbourne, H2 $533 Melbourne and $515 Kwinana, APW2/APWN traded $500 Geraldton as examples.


Feed barley traded $426 Geelong, $405 Kwinana, while Spartacus and Planet malt grades traded $467 Portland. Oats are now making $350 in Kwinana while Lupins continue to trade $355 Kwinana.


Appetite for Australian grain remains strong with almost all commodities, grades and locations being searched and considered by buyers for purchase.


Sometimes the demand can be unpredictable. If you have grain in warehouse and a price in mind, make sure you've offered it for sale at the price you're targeting.


There are often more buyers than you realise trying to purchase grain. Make sure you give all of them the opportunity to buy your grain. You're protected at all times with anonymity and secure settlement.
