Look Out!

  • Wheat was up on Friday, whilst the row crops, beans and corn were off.

  • Argentina is experiencing a spring heat wave with temperatures reaching 40+ degrees in some regions.

  • The Argie wheat crop is going backwards, with the Rosario Grain Exchange now forecasting the wheat crop at 15 million tonnes. The USDA has it forecast at 16.5 million.

  • Also, the warm temperatures in Argie have caused an eyebrow to be raised with regards to their corn crop, which is halfway through being planted.

  • The world has Argie pencilled in for a record corn crop, but it’s not off to a good start; however it is early days and an El-Nino for Argie usually results in a wetter season.

  • There are also some concerns about the high Urea prices and what impact this will have on South American corn production.

  • It’s starting to warm up in Oz as well as temperatures climb past 30+ degrees in some regions. We might be in for an early harvest.
