Look Out!

  • Markets all up solidly last night.

  • US crop conditions released yesterday with corn conditions unchanged at 65% Good to Excellent.

  • Soybeans were also unchanged at 64% Good to Excellent.

  • The harvest has commenced with these 2 row crops, so they are pretty much good as done.

  • Winter wheat is 25% planted which is about the same pace as last year.

  • There are still dry weather concerns for parts of the Black sea region, impacting planting. Also, dryness in Argentina and Brazil is impacting corn and bean planting as well as knocking the Argie wheat crop around.

  • However, rains are forecast for Brazil in October which will take some concern out of the bean crop.

  • The gurus are forecasting the Brazilians will produce a 170 million tonne bean crop or 20 million tonnes more than this year.

  • US wheat exports last week were a very impressive 711,000 tonnes, well above trade expectations and the highest in a single week for 2 years.

  • Year to date, US wheat exports are at 7.685 million tonnes and 36% ahead of the same time last year.
