Look Out!

  • Markets mixed last night with no major changes.

  • However, that little piece of paper we trade on the East Coast, the Jan ASX wheat futures contract was up another $4 settling at AUD $407.

  • The Argie crop keeps getting smaller, now forecast to be around 14.30 million tonnes. The USDA called it 16.50 million tonnes last week.

  • The Brazilian corn crop is 41% planted, which is slightly slower than last year.

  • The forecast is a mixed bag for Brazilian corn with the USDA at 129 million tonnes and Conab’s forecast of 119 million tonnes.

  • The El Nino will impact some areas of Brazil which could affect their corn production. This will play out over the next few months.
