Dominic Hogan Outlook commodities comments

Look Out!

  • And just like that, without any major change anywhere in the world, wheat futures were up last night.

  • Its like a roulette table; remember gamble responsibly.

  • However, as a bit of rain falls in South America, the row crops, corn and beans were off.

  • Some are concerned the rains in Southern Brazil might be too excessive.

  • Rumours of China buying some more Soft Red Winter wheat after they signed some big deal earlier this week to buy gazillions of dollars US commodities.

  • Also, false reports of the Ukrainian export corridor being closed due to mines and Ruskie war planes which spooked the market a bit last night.

  • With around 10% of the Aussie harvest completed, wheat quality appears to be returning to the norm, with better protein in WA, which will see more APW and AH.

  • NSW however is seeing lower protein levels.

  • Vic and SA are expected to be like last year with 60% APW/ASW and 20-25% AH.
